    Where To Buy Souper Cubes

If you’re hearing all the buzz about Souper Cubes but have no idea how to get your hands on these nifty kitchen gadgets I’m here to help. I’m going to break down the different sizes of Souper Cubes and where you can get your own. Let me just start by saying this review is completely my own and is in no way sponsored by Souper Cubes. I would only tell you about products that I actually own, use, and LOVE.

    What Are Souper Cubes?

Souper Cubes trays are very well-designed silicone freezing trays. They are made of thick silicone and the embedded steel rim makes them very sturdy. The lids are made from BBA-free plastic and fit very snugly.

    All of their products feature:

    • 100% FDA food-grade silicone
    • Fill Lines: for easy measurements
    • BPA free
    • Dishwasher safe
    • Trays (not lids) are oven safe up to 415°

Souper Cubes were invented by a couple Michelle and Jake and they truly believe in their product. They are a family-owned business and you can read more about them here.

    Where to buy Souper Cubes

    • Directly from the Souper Cubes website
    • William Sonoma
    • Amazon
    • Sur La Table

My favorite set is this gift set. You get four Souper Cube trays 1- One Cup, 1-Two Cub, 1-Half Cup & 1-Two Tablespoon trays.

The Souper Cube trays I use the most are the one cup and two cup trays and you can find them here.

½ cup, 1 cup, 2 cup and Tables spoon Teal souper cube trays

How to use Souper Cube Trays

    1. When you’re ready to freeze leftovers simply ladle or spoon the desired amount into the cube.
    2. Wipe the rim of the tray and place the lid on.
    3. Transfer filled trays to the freezer where they easily stack on top of one another.
    4. When the cubes are completely frozen, usually the next day, remove the trays from the freezer
    5. Wait 3-4 minutes and then over a bowl or cutting board gently press the bottom of the cube until the contents lift out.
    6. Place frozen cubes in labeled freezer bags and place them back in the freezer.

Are Souper Cubes woth the Cost?

After having and using this product weekly for the past 4 months I can say YES! Absolutely investing in Souper Cubes are totally worth every penny. Although it may seem a bit like an investment to purchase your first few sets of Souper Cubes just think of how much food you would potentially be wasting if you don’t freeze it. Having perfectly portioned-sized cubes makes using the cubes a no-brainer.

    Pros:

    • Perfect portioned sizes
      • 2 Cup
      • 1 Cup
      • ½ Cup
      • 2 Tbsp
      • Cookie
    • Trays easily stack for freezing
    • Easy to clean
    • Cubes store and stack easily saving freezer space
    • Reduces food waste
    • Meal plan easily from your freezer stash
    • Prepare food once and enjoy it multiple times
    • Easy grab and go lunches
    • Family can all choose a different meal

    Cons:

    • Once you purchase your first set you will want them ALL
    • They don’t go on sale very often
    • They are an investment to start (but so totally worth it)

As you can see my pro list definitely outweighs my con list and I absolutely love this product and I will be purchasing more. Like I mentioned before it’s a family-owned business with a great product and genuine customer service.

How Long Does Food Stay Good In The Freezer?

That can vary due to how you store your cubes. If you’re using freezer bags expect some ice crystals to form on the cube after a few weeks so try and use them within 3-4 weeks.

If you’re using a food saver vacuum-sealed bag you could get up to 6 months if stored properly, however, if you only need one serving this storage method may not be the most efficient.

You can store the cubes in the Souper Cube trays, but then they are not available to be used for anything else. Having a resealable vacuum bag system like this that can be opened and re-sealed is ideally the best way to store your cubes for longevity and freshness.

How To Clean Souper Cubes Trays & Lids

I was a little worried that the silicone trays might hold an odor like my silicone seal on the Instant Pot does or stain when using them with dark red sauces and I am happy to say that I have not had any issues with either. I have hand-washed my trays with soap and hot water so far, but they can also be cleaned in the dishwasher if needed.

    How To Reheat Frozen Cubes

Most cubes do not need to defrost before reheating, they can simply go from the freezer to the stove, microwave, or oven. It really depends on what you’re reheating.

Freezing one-cup portions of soups and chilis are easily reheated in the microwave for about 4-5 minutes. I find it best to use a silicone cover like this when using the microwave method.

For larger 2 cups quantities or multiple cubes reheating in a pot with a lid on the stovetop works well.

To reheat lasagna or enchiladas you may want to use the oven to cook or reheat. Remember Souper Cube trays (not the lids) are oven safe up to 415° so you can prep, freeze and bake all the trays if you wanted.
