Air Fryer Vs. Convection Oven
A convection oven cooks with a fan that continually circulates hot air around the oven to produce a more even and consistent cooking temperature. A true convection oven will have three heating elements one on top and bottom and one around the fan. I have personally had an electric convection oven for the past ten years and I really enjoyed the convection cooking. Convection cooking or (hot air circulation) results in faster and more evenly cooked food. Most new Samsung ranges now offer conventional bake, convection bake, and air fry functions.

Air frying uses convection technology and a high-speed fan that has been “souped” up. When air frying in the Samsung oven you are cooking with a specialized convection setting designed with superheated air and a higher-speed fan. No need for deep frying, air frying gives us a healthier way to achieve the delicious crispy foods we love without all the excess fat and oil.

Cook Faster
With powerful heat and convection fans the new air fry mode, you’ll use significantly less oil and spend less time making healthier food for your family all at once instead of standing over a small air fryer cooking in batches. The gas version offers a 5-burner cooktop offers a triple ring burner with a rapid boil putting out 18,000 BTUs and the electric version offers a triple burner and warmer burner. The smartthings cooking app easily monitors and controls your range using your phone.

Pros & Cons
If you’re considering upgrading from a countertop air fryer to a full-size range with air fry you might be asking if it’s really worth the investment. If you are not in the market for a new oven or range it probably doesn’t make sense to upgrade, however, if you are in need of a new appliance like I was it is totally worth the investment.

- You don’t have another kitchen appliance to store or have on the countertop.
- Smart WiFi enabled
- The oven bakes evenly and 25% faster than a conventional oven with true convection and air fry functions

- 5-Burner radiant heat cooktop with rapid boil burner and warmer
- Fingerprint resistant stainless steel or black stainless steel and white (varies by model)

- Large 6.3 C.U. ft capacity
Cons:
- Investing in a large appliance range from $1,500-$2,500 (not on sale)
- The drawer on the bottom is very small
- Front controls on the gas version can be reached by small children
- The Samsung Air Fry Basket may need to be purchased separately for around $60 (some models are now including it)
- May need to be cleaned more frequently due to the fan circulating hot air/grease.
- Air fry tray is expensive

What is an Air Fryer Good for?
It’s important to note that not everything is meant to be cooked in an air fryer whether it be a full-sized or countertop version, but if you’re looking to cut unhealthy fats and oils and fried food from your diet then air frying food is a great option.
What Foods Can I Air Fry?
- Frozen foods like French fries, onion rings, mozzarella sticks, etc.
- From scratch “fried” foods like chicken wings, egg rolls, wontons, homemade french fries, etc.
- Veggies like broccoli, zucchini fries, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, and roasted baby potatoes
- Bacon!!
- Breakfast Potatoes
- Coconut Shrimp
- Homemade Pizza Rolls
- Nashville Hot Chicken
- Sticky Fingers
- Whole Chicken
When To Use True Convection System
Some models of the Samsung air fry oven have a convection option. Convection cooking is faster than conventional and you can use multiple racks in the oven at once without having to rotate the food. This is because the heat isn’t coming from the heating elements on the top and bottom but being circulated evenly, allowing you to bake 3 pans of cookies simultaneously.
Foods that are great for convection bake:
- Poultry and sausage
- Roasted meats
- Pizza
- Bread that needs a bit of a crust like banana bread
When To Use The Bake function
- Delicate foods like soufflé or cheesecake are great candidates for conventional baking
- Batter recipes that don’t require a crust like a cake
Samsung Range Review
In my opinion that was not paid for or sponsored in any way by Samsung. I would give this range 4 out of 5 stars. I like the powerful convection but I’m not as impressed with the air fry function as I was on my previous Frigidaire Air Fry Range. The large capacity oven fits large sheet pans and big casserole dishes. The high heat rapid boil burner is nice for water but is really too hot for sauteing and will quickly burn your food if you’re not careful.
The smart appliance allows you to easily monitor the temperature of your oven and monitor the cook time conveniently in the app. The Samsung air fryer basket sits directly on an oven rack. This is why I can’t give this range 5 stars. It’s my opinion that this is a huge missed opportunity. Not only is the basket smaller than the Frigidaire ReadyCook Air Fry Tray but overall it’s messier setting an air fry basket on an oven rack than just having an entire tray/rack combo that slides in independently and then placing a large sheet pan underneath on the rack below to catch any grease or crumbs. The high-priced name-brand special tray is not worth the money when for the size you can purchase a comparable size basket and drip tray combo online for about half the price.
If you are having electric, gas, or mechanical issues with your oven or range please contact Samsung customer support at 1 (800) 726-7864 during regular business hours or refer to your user manual and the step-by-step guide for troubleshooting your range issues.

How To Upgrade From Electric To Gas
In order to upgrade from an electric range to a gas range, you will need to have a licensed and bonded plumber install a gas line. We were fortunate that our furnace and fireplace insert is natural gas and the plumber was able to tap into my existing gas line and run it to the kitchen for about $300.
The gas version of this range can be converted to propane as well. Just make sure you have the conversion kit for that. lastly, in order for your new gas range to work, you will also need an electrician to convert the 220 receptacles to 110 or you can purchase this adaptor for about $30 on amazon.
A Samsung air fry range is a type of oven or stove that has built-in air fryer technology. This technology uses hot air to cook food, rather than traditional frying methods that use oil. Samsung air fry ranges typically have a dedicated air fry setting, which allows you to cook food with little or no oil, resulting in dishes that are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. They also often feature other cooking options such as convection, broil, and roast.
These ranges are designed to make cooking easier and more efficient by allowing you to fry, bake, grill, and roast all in one appliance. They also usually come with a range of preset cooking modes so you can cook different types of food at the perfect temperature and timing.

Thanks you for this info. I have a built-in and slide-in range and both are getting on the old side. I’ve wondered about the oven air-fry vs. convention settings. I like you would still get the convention settings (bake and roast).

I just purchased a Samsung Electric slide in range with the Air fry, air bake , Convection. Bread proof. Etc. I had to get an electric as we just moved into an all electric home. . I have to say I really like the air fry mode . I made some peanut butter cookies and they came out so crispy , Italian sausage , great. There is no pre heating which is great. I really like this stove. If you don’t get the Wi Fi the same stove is like $200 less. . We bought it at Best Buy and got a great deal , I belong to the Total Tech service, they came in and set it up. Good luck .
